Google presents ChromeOS Tablet concepts
During the last week Apple’s iPad got the full attention of the media and bloggers. Meanwhile, one of Apple’s biggest rivals, Google, is working on a corresponding concept. With ChromeOS, a Linux-based operating system which is still under development, it should be easy for Google to create something close to the iPad, especially because ChromeOS is optimized for a quick and easy Internet Browsing, with focus on performance and power efficiency.
Rumors are that Google is already working with HTC on a tablet PC. This shouldn’t be a surprise since Google partnered up already with HTC to develop the first Android phone and lately for the Google phone, the “Nexus One“. Besides the rumors, there are already facts and news for the ChromeOS Tablet. On the Chromium project, which is the open source development basis for Google Chrome and ChromeOS, designs for a possible Google Tablet were published. This is made especially interesting by the fact that the drafts are coming from designer Glen Murphy, who is generally responsible for the development of the surface of Chrome / ChromeOS.
The description of the concept reveals ideas with which Google is currently experimenting, such as switching between several applications and websites, or optimizing the start of programs for tablets. In addition, a video was also released that shows a possible usage of a ChromeOS Tablet.
